Albacore Tataki

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb sushi grade Albacore tuna cut like a stick of butter
  • Ocean's Balance Furikake Bonito, spicy or shiitake
  • olive oil for searing
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce for dipping

Instructions

  • Roll tuna in furikake so that all sides and ends are covered.
  • Heat oil in saute pan. Using tongs, hold tuna and sear tuna on all sides approximately 1 minute. You will see white line forming.
  • When seared on all edges and sides, let rest at least a minute or two.
  • Slice thinly and evenly. A serrated knife works best. Albacore is a little less forgiving slicing wise than other tunas. Don't worry, it will taste the same if it crumbles a bit around the edges.
  • Serve with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

You can use any brand you like of Furikake.  We like Ocean's Balance because it incorporates kelp.
